Ukrainian Citizen Arrested in Germany on Suspicion of Spying for Russia

A 53-year-old Ukrainian citizen, Vadim I., was arrested in Germany on suspicion of spying for Russia. German media reported the information. Police detained the man in Brandenburg.

According to the investigation, he had been working for Russian intelligence services since July 2025 and was collecting military information.

According to investigators, the suspect was collecting information on "the production of armored vehicles, combat materials and explosives, as well as personnel and military infrastructure at NATO's eastern flank facilities".

According to German media, the detainee was particularly interested in the 45th Tank Brigade of the Bundeswehr. The brigade is planned to be deployed to Lithuania next year.

The detainee will appear before a court tomorrow.
