According to the US State Department, the administration of President Donald Trump has revoked more than 300,000 visas during his second presidential term. Reuters reports this.

According to the agency, based on data, the pace of visa revocations has increased in recent weeks.

State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said that the Trump administration has revoked "a larger number of visas, at a faster pace, than any other administration in US history."

Pigott said the administration "has zero tolerance for foreigners who are in the US on a visa and break the law, commit fraud or pose a threat to national security."

Reuters writes that human rights advocates are especially critical of the revocation of visas for foreign protesters who demonstrated in support of Palestinians and against Israeli attacks on Gaza. Criticism also followed the revocation of visas for foreigners who wrote opinions on social media about the killing of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

According to the agency, alongside efforts to deport foreign protesters, the Trump administration has also tightened the screening of social media posts by migrants and visa applicants.
