Up to 150,000 supporters of the opposition student movement, the 'Student List', gathered in the center of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. Students and their supporters held a march through the streets, carrying flags with the slogan: "Students Will Win". The demonstrators eventually gathered at Slavija Square, where their largest protest rallies were held.

The 'Student List' is a movement that has no specific leader and unites candidates supported by students. In the parliamentary elections planned for Sunday, it aims to defeat the Serbian Progressive Party of Aleksandar Vucic and end his 14-year rule.

In the 250-seat parliamentary elections, the movement has 250 candidates, many of whom come from academic circles. The movement has a broad program, although its main promise is the fight against corruption.

Vucic has repeatedly accused the student movement of attempting a foreign-funded coup. Yesterday, during a meeting with voters, he stated: "Let us never forget how they tried to overthrow our state. Let us always defend it. Let us go and defeat them! Let us defeat them decisively!"

Vucic has dominated Serbia's political scene for more than ten years, as prime minister and president. Last month, amid ongoing protests across the country, he called early elections and resigned the presidency. Many believe this is only a tactical step aimed at winning a vote for the prime minister's post.

According to Western media, this is the most serious electoral challenge that Vucic's party has faced since coming to power in 2012.
