Chergoleishvili: 'Federalists' Refuse to Take Part in Ivanishvili's Show at Constitutional Court

The leader of the 'Federalists', Tamar Chergoleishvili, told journalists that the process of revoking Georgian citizenship is underway and that Bidzina Ivanishvili is revoking the citizenship of a Georgian citizen. According to her, the struggle must be won in the political arena and not 'in this fake court process'.

According to Chergoleishvili, nothing legal sticks to the process underway at the Constitutional Court. In her words, the 'Federalists' refuse to take part in the play written by Ivanishvili, which will have an ending he has also written, and to play the role of victim.

"We will not give him the opportunity to demonstrate his strength through us. Nothing legal sticks to this process. Accordingly, arguing legal points where the law is written by Bidzina Ivanishvili is not our cup of tea," she said.

Chergoleishvili added that the sessions of the Constitutional Court coincided with the campaign planned by them, 'The Georgian people deserve better'. According to her, they are going door to door and trying to restore to politics the meaning that Russian totalitarianism swallowed up and which makes politics a common cause.

According to her, if the parties want people to take to the streets to defend them, the parties must talk about the problems of the people and not about Ivanishvili's manoeuvres and circuses.

The Constitutional Court has begun hearing a constitutional lawsuit filed by 88 members of parliament. The lawsuit, filed by Georgian Dream, seeks to ban and declare unconstitutional five opposition parties: 'Unity - National Movement', 'Coalition for Change', 'Strong Georgia - Lelo', 'Federalist Party' and 'Gakharia for Georgia'. The court session will resume on Monday.
