Aliyev Hopes Trump Will Receive 2026 Nobel Peace Prize

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev expressed hope that US President Donald Trump will be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2026 for his efforts to achieve lasting peace in the South Caucasus.

Aliyev wrote on social network X: "We sincerely hope that President Trump's historic efforts to ensure lasting peace in our region will be duly recognized when the question of awarding the Nobel Peace Prize this year is decided".

According to him, Trump played a historic role in advancing the peace process between Baku and Yerevan. The Azerbaijani president was referring to the peace summit held in Washington on August 8, 2025, which was organized by Trump.

Aliyev also stated that, on his initiative, Azerbaijan and Armenia jointly nominated the US president for the Nobel Peace Prize. In doing so, they recognized his contribution to the peace process.
