National Bank Council Unanimously Recuses Kueinishvili From Decision-Making

The National Bank Council unanimously decided that council member Nana Kueinishvili will not take part in the council's activities until the prosecutor's office completes its investigation. The National Bank released a statement to this effect.
According to the bank, the decision will remain in force until the investigation is completed and objective truth is established.
According to the statement, the council today considered the issue of recusing Kueinishvili from participation in the council's activities. Pending the completion of the investigation by the Prosecutor General's Office in connection with Kueinishvili, it was decided, based on the council's high reputational standards, that she should not take part in the process of preparing and adopting decisions.
In making the decision, the council was guided by the relevant articles of the Organic Law on the National Bank and the General Administrative Code, which provide for the recusal of an interested party in a collegial administrative body. The bank explained that an official who has a personal interest, or where there is another circumstance that could affect his or her decision, may not participate in administrative proceedings.
