Georgian Technical University presented the summary report of the spring 2026 semester of the project "GTU Vocational Training Courses", implemented within the Tbilisi City Hall program "Learn and Get Employed".

The event was opened by Vice-Rector, Professor Tamar Tsereteli. Participants included Sofo Ugrekhelidze, head of the Education and Youth Affairs Department of Tbilisi City Hall, course attendees, Dean of the Faculty of Energy Ketevan Kutatheladze, Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Management Systems Taliko Zhvania, project manager and rector's adviser Rati Gurgenidze, and invited guests.

According to Tamar Tsereteli, short-term intensive professional courses are extremely important for quickly meeting labor market demands and training qualified personnel. In her assessment, this is the shortest way for citizens to acquire the skills needed for their desired profession and quickly find a place in the job market. The Vice-Rector praised the efforts of Tbilisi City Hall in successfully implementing the program over the years.

"On behalf of Georgian Technical University Rector, Academician Davit Gurgenidze, I would like to thank the capital's City Hall for close and productive cooperation. Through the program "Learn and Get Employed", attendees are given a unique opportunity to master, completely free of charge, the most in-demand, specific and, in many cases, rare professions in the labor market. We are pleased that Georgian Technical University, with its strong material and technical base and academic resources, has been given an important role in this noble endeavor," said Tamar Tsereteli.

In his summary report, Rati Gurgenidze said the project was implemented during the spring semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, from 1 May to 31 August of the current year. It was financed by the Tbilisi City Hall Municipal Service for Culture, Education, Sports and Youth Affairs with the direct involvement of the City Hall's Education and Youth Affairs Department, while STU was the organizer. A total of 75 citizens residing in the territory of Tbilisi Municipality took part.

According to Rati Gurgenidze, 15 attendees completed the course for assistant installers of renewable energy equipment (installation of solar photovoltaic and thermal systems), 25 completed the video surveillance systems technician course, 15 completed the course on building energy supply planning and management using renewable resources (energy audit), and 20 completed the course for electric vehicle charging equipment specialists (installation and system support).

It was noted at the meeting that the next stage of the project will begin on 1 November of the current year. A total of 105 citizens will take part in the new intensive short-term courses: full accredited occupational safety specialist course, 40 attendees; construction production worker course, 20; plumbing and heating and water heating system installation course, 15; elevator installation and safe operation course, 15; and automotive electrical systems course, 15 attendees. One group will be opened in each area.

At the end of the meeting, the Vice-Rector, the head of the City Hall department and the deans handed certificates to attendees who successfully completed the courses.

The Tbilisi City Hall program "Learn and Get Employed" has been operating since 2018. Its aim is to promote the employment of job seekers and prepare them through intensive short-term professional courses. The program trains and retrains citizens registered in Tbilisi for about 50 in-demand specialties in the labor market in the fields of construction, engineering, food technologies, tourism, services, information technology, design, transport, finance, healthcare and veterinary medicine.
