Merab Malania: Prosecution Failed to Present Evidence Against My Son

მერაბ მალანია: ბრალდებამ ჩემი შვილის წინააღმდეგ მტკიცებულება ვერ წარმოადგინა

Former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Merab Malania said that the prosecution failed to present any evidence against his son, Giorgi Malania, who was detained in the case of Giga Avaliani. He told journalists this after the court hearing ended.

According to Merab Malania, if the investigative agency has any questions for him regarding the case, he is ready to answer them at any time.

According to him, investigators who were handling the case were questioned at the hearing. "They confirmed that they failed to obtain any evidence against my son, that he in any way assisted or ever met with criminals, etc. In addition, there was also an expert today, who also confirmed what we have been saying for so long, that not a single video call was made between Gabashvili and my son," Merab Malania said.

According to him, assumptions were voiced at the hearing that Giorgi Malania could have passed some information to Aleksandre Gabashvili. Merab Malania asks what information or what kind of information is meant, and states that much can be assumed, but the prosecution has no specific evidence, and today this was put to an end.

Giorgi Malania is charged with aiding in the group, intentional infliction of grave harm to the health of Giga Avaliani. He has been charged under Articles 25 and Article 117, Part 3, subparagraph "l" of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
