504 people detained at protests in France, 48 law enforcement officers injured

504 people were detained at protests held in France on Thursday. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 48 law enforcement officers were injured in clashes between demonstrators and police.
According to official data, 71,500 people took part in the protests, including 24,500 in Paris. The information is reported by France 24.
Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu reviewed in detail the measures previously announced by Education Minister Édouard Geffray. The measures envisage mobilizing 3,024 substitute teachers, with priority given to the 114 schools facing the greatest difficulties.
"Every hour of lessons missed due to a shortage of substitute teachers harms students. This is a serious problem," the prime minister said. According to him, the government will make changes to the 2027 budget so that "some of the proposals expressed by students become concrete measures."
Student protests in France began in September. Students are protesting the underfunding of schools, the teacher shortage and the deterioration of learning conditions. Since the start of the movement, more than 6,000 people have been detained, the majority of them minors.
