Lortkipanidze: Alone, Georgia Will Be Crushed by the Russian Empire

Political scientist and one of the founders of the "Movement for Social Democracy" Levan Lortkipanidze says that the problem is not the existence of a "telephone" between the Georgian government and "our enemies", but that Georgia, left alone, will be crushed by the Russian Empire. He made this statement on the "Day News Room" program on "Palitranius" and responded to the appointment of Giorgi Zurabishvili as the Prime Minister's Special Representative for relations with Russia.

According to Lortkipanidze, such ties become problematic when no one stands by the country and no one backs it. In his assessment, in this case the country remains alone and face to face with the empire, which, in his words, is "a precondition for being slaughtered and crushed".

According to the political scientist, Georgia has severed its institutional ties and cooperation formats with the West, adopted a policy of isolation and remained alone. He believes the government shares Russia's policy, tries not to irritate Russia and submits to it on some issues, although it has no formal and institutional ties with Russia. Lortkipanidze says that now Bidzina Ivanishvili, Irakli Kobakhidze and members of his team are beginning to build these institutional, formal ties.

In his assessment, this will not lead to the restoration of diplomatic relations, but "Georgian Dream" will begin to revive all other forms of ties apart from diplomatic relations.

Lortkipanidze called Russian diplomacy a "creator of a thousand tangles", which, in his words, deceives everyone and uses violence. According to him, Georgia is sending a foreign ministry that has been emptied of influential diplomats.

"When you have no backing, no cadres, no one prepared, you are in isolation, and here you attack the German ambassador, and in such a time you send someone, it means you have lost 100-0", said Lortkipanidze. According to him, under these conditions it would have been better not to send anyone.
