SSG: Two Citizens Illegally Detained Near Medzhvrisskhevi Released
Two Georgian citizens illegally detained near the village of Medzhvrisskhevi in Gori Municipality on September 16, 2024, are free and are located in the territory controlled by the central government. The State Security Service (SSG) reports this.
According to the agency, all relevant instruments available to the central government were used to free the citizens, including the "hotline" mechanism managed by the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM).
According to the SSG, the unconditional release of the illegally detained citizens was regularly discussed within the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) and the Geneva International Discussions formats.
As the information states, the central government of Georgia, with the involvement of international partners, continues active work to free all Georgian citizens illegally held in occupied territories.
