David Peikrishvili Transferred to Vivamed for Surgery

Prisoner David Peikrishvili has again been transferred from a penitentiary facility to Vivamed. According to Zurab Chkhaidze, clinical director of Vivamed, he is being prepared for surgery. Chkhaidze told Netgazeti that Peikrishvili was admitted to the clinic about an hour ago.

"He has traumatic injuries to the upper limbs... there is a fracture, and there are also cut wounds on the hands," Zurab Chkhaidze said. According to him, David Peikrishvili was also transferred to the clinic yesterday, October 19.

According to the statement of Peikrishvili's lawyer, Paata Gogiashvili, his client sustained physical injuries inflicted by several people, including Vato Kiapiani and "Kaitsro". The lawyer said David Peikrishvili also inflicted self-harm, and according to him, on October 19 his brother Giorgi Peikrishvili also cut his veins. According to the lawyer, David had broken ribs and facial bones, and his skull was also damaged.

The Penitentiary Service once again denied that David Peikrishvili was beaten. The agency currently says nothing about David Peikrishvili's transfer to Vivamed, neither on October 19 nor on October 20.

According to the lawyer's account, Bilanishvili and Kiapiani were placed together with others in the exact cell where David Peikrishvili was being held. Vato Kiapiani and Avtandil Bilanishvili [Kaitsro] were detained last week in connection with a case of a brawl at a restaurant.

Twin brothers David and Giorgi Peikrishvili were detained on September 22 in two separate criminal cases: on charges of group violence and extortion. On October 2 it became known that a new case had been opened against them, under which they are accused of unlawful legalization of 10 million GEL.

Vato Kiapiani was previously charged with planning the liquidation of the Peikrishvili brothers. In 2020, the State Security Service disseminated information that the Ukrainian Security Service, through a joint operation, prevented the murder of the brothers. According to the prosecution, the attack was planned by Vato Kiapiani, a criminal authority who was in Ukraine. Kiapiani was detained in 2021 after being expelled from Ukraine to Georgia.
