Environmental Agency Forecasts Heavy Rain and Flood Risk Until October 22

According to the National Environmental Agency, intermittent precipitation is expected in eastern Georgia from the night hours of October 20 and in western Georgia from October 21, until the second half of the day on October 22. Precipitation will be heavy in places in the northern mountainous regions, as well as in Shida Kartli, Kvemo Kartli and Kakheti regions.
The agency reports that thunderstorms and strengthening winds are also possible.
According to the agency, "the expected heavy rainfall may cause a significant rise in water levels and floods on rivers - the Enguri, Aragvi, Alazani, Iori and their tributaries, the emergence and activation of mudslides and debris flows in hilly and mountainous zones, and flooding of individual sections in urban areas (hazard level: moderate)".
