Seasonal Flu Vaccination Nationwide to Start October 21

Seasonal flu vaccination will start nationwide on October 21. According to the Ministry of Health, the vaccine is free for all citizens and is fully state-funded.

According to the ministry, under the state immunization program, Georgia has purchased 200,000 doses of the French-made three-component vaccine (Vaxigrip by SANOFI WINTHROP INDUSTRIE). This vaccine is among those recommended by the WHO.

The ministry explains that the vaccine is tailored to the strains expected to circulate during the flu season.

Vaccination is particularly important for high-risk groups: people with chronic diseases, oncology patients, pregnant women, people aged 60 and older, medical personnel, as well as beneficiaries and staff of shelters and boarding houses.

Vaccination is available from the age of 6 months at medical facilities and polyclinics providing vaccination services, and is completely free for beneficiaries.
