Herczynski: Anti-European Rhetoric Cannot Change EU-Georgia Relations

Pawel Herczynski, the European Union's ambassador to Georgia, said that the friendship between the EU and Georgia begins with Georgia's independence. According to him, the recent anti-European rhetoric is greatly damaging this close relationship, but it cannot change it. The ambassador said this in Telavi, speaking at the event "Europe Day 2026" organized by the EU Delegation.
According to Herczynski, the EU will continue to support Georgia's democratic and European future.
"The European Union is like Georgian polyphony. 27 independent states create a strong unity, just as each voice creates a single melody. We want the Georgian voice to be clearly heard in Europe's polyphony. The friendship between the EU and Georgia begins with Georgia's independence, and although the recent anti-European rhetoric is greatly damaging this close relationship, it cannot change it! It is unthinkable to rewrite a history of many years, let alone forget it in a few years. We will continue to support Georgia's democratic and European future," said Herczynski.
