Grandmother of Minor Detained in Marneuli on Charges of Forced Marriage

A grandmother of a minor was detained in Kvemo Kartli on charges of forcing a child into marriage. The Ministry of Internal Affairs disseminated the information.
According to the agency, the suspect forced her underage granddaughter, on the grounds of gender discrimination and out of intolerance, and against her will, to marry a man from the same village.
The detention was carried out by employees of the Marneuli District Division of the Kvemo Kartli Police Department, after investigative actions were conducted.
The investigation is being conducted under Article 11 Prima 150 Prima of the Criminal Code of Georgia. This article provides for imprisonment for up to 4 years.
