Papuashvili Attends Mass Baptism in Adjara

Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili attended a mass baptism in the Skhalta Eparchy in Adjara. According to him, this year marks 1700 years since Christianity was declared the state religion in Georgia, but the Georgian Church counts more years, so today acquires even more symbolism.
Papuashvili noted that this chronology began precisely in Adjara, from the first sermons and first baptisms of Andrew the First-Called. According to him, love of the homeland and faith are the values that bind the Georgian Christian family.
"This is a special day. It is also special in that the joy of your families has today turned into the joy of all of Georgia. All attention is focused on this special day, when 1300 people have become Christians," Papuashvili said.
He congratulated the adults who were baptized on joining the Church and, citing the words of the Catholicos-Patriarch, assessed their step as a step of faith. He addressed the parents of the children, saying that they gave their children not only life but also belonging, taught them language and love of the homeland, and today shared faith with them.
According to the Parliament Speaker, the more closely a family is bound together around these values, the stronger the family itself and the state will be.
