Two Persons Detained in Batumi on Fraud Charges, Woman Lost GEL 116,475

Employees of the Kutaisi City Department of the Imereti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained two persons in Batumi. The charge concerns fraud committed by a group in advance agreement, which caused significant damage.

According to the investigation, the suspects offered an acquaintance, a woman, to start a joint business venture. To implement the plan, the woman took out bank loans and handed over a total of GEL 116,475.

The suspects did not fulfill the agreed conditions and unlawfully appropriated the transferred money. Both persons were detained on the basis of a court ruling.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 180, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for imprisonment of up to 7 years.
