Man Charged in Absentia With Attempted Murder in Zugdidi
The Prosecutor's Office has charged one person with an intentional attempted murder committed under aggravating circumstances in Zugdidi Municipality.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, an investigation by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that on October 14, a person wanted for a previous attempted murder attacked the victims with a hunting rifle and a knife in the village of Alertkari in Zugdidi Municipality, amid an existing disagreement and conflict. With the intent to kill, he inflicted injuries on various parts of their bodies and fled the scene.
He has been charged in absentia under Article 19-109, subparagraphs "l" and "p" of the Criminal Code of Georgia (intentional attempted murder, committed against two persons, repeatedly). The crime carries up to 20 years of imprisonment.
The Prosecutor's Office has already applied to the court with a motion to impose pre-trial detention as a preventive measure against the accused.
