Azerbaijani police have detained 19 fans in Baku on charges of attempting to provoke incidents before and after the match between the football clubs Karabakh and Neftchi. The information was released by the Azerbaijani agency APA, citing data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Ministry's press service said that law enforcement officers are taking appropriate measures against those detained after the match. The agencies' materials do not specify what actions the detainees are accused of.

The match between Karabakh and Neftchi took place on October 17 in Baku at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium and ended in a 3:3 draw.

According to Caucasus Update, in March 2024, four Neftchi fans threw lit pyrotechnic devices at the club's administrative building. They were protesting the team's defeat to Karabakh. Two fans were sentenced to 30 days in detention, and two were fined.
