Two ships sink after projectiles hit near Strait of Hormuz

Two ships sank near the Strait of Hormuz: a container ship and a dry cargo carrier. Both were damaged as a result of projectiles hitting them. Reuters reports the information, citing officials of the maritime service.
The small container ship GFS Pride, flying the Singapore flag, sank while sailing through the strait. According to a statement from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the vessel was damaged, a fire broke out on board, and it sank afterwards. "All 21 crew members were safely evacuated. Information about the injured is not being disclosed," the MPA statement said.
According to data from the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the UN maritime agency, the Cape Dao, flying the flag of Antigua and Barbuda, also sank near the strait. The incident occurred after the ship was hit by a projectile on September 23. According to sources in the maritime sector, one crew member was killed in the attack, while the others were evacuated immediately.
In the last 10 days, the number of attacks in the vicinity of the Strait of Hormuz has sharply increased. Iran says it is intensifying the strikes in response to the US blockade of its ports and tougher sanctions imposed last month.
