Zurab Girchi Japaridze, one of the leaders of the "Coalition for Changes", who was detained at the Turkish border yesterday, was returned to Georgia today by the Turkish side.

Japaridze was denied entry into Turkey yesterday and detained. Information about his detention was first published by "Aldi". After this, Japaridze himself wrote on social media that since November 2025 he has had a "ban" on entering Turkey.

According to Japaridze, he was travelling to Brussels, where he was to take part in a leaders' summit at the invitation of Renew Europe. He had to change airlines in Turkey and was detained at the border.

"As they explain, since November 2025 I have had a "ban" on entering Turkey. They have some information received about me from Georgian official structures. They are taking me back to Tbilisi tomorrow morning. Unfortunately, I lost the opportunity to attend important meetings. Nothing else to worry about", writes Japaridze.
