Papuashvili: Non-Invitation of Georgia to Forum Shows Who Is Focused on Boycott

Parliament Chairman Shalva Papuashvili said that the non-invitation of Georgia to the EU enlargement forum shows who in Georgia-EU relations is focused on boycott, destructive and obstructing dialogue.
According to him, Kaia Kallas's statement that her task is not an in-depth discussion of Georgia and Black Sea issues exposes its superficiality. Papuashvili explained that this is why the EU's foreign policy is immature and why it has lost its global role. He also said that there is no major state today that takes the EU into account as a global power.
According to Papuashvili, the EU is destructive in this relationship, while Georgia is constructive. "We are ready to wait for them at the dialogue table. Where the EU went into confrontation, it also lost itself, made even greater mistakes for other countries and threw them into great misfortune. We do not think we should follow the EU's confrontational policy. We are sitting at the dialogue table and waiting for when the Brussels representation will sit down at this table. We are constructive and it is time for the EU to return to a constructive course," he said.
Papuashvili was asked how he views the fact that only Nino Lomjaria has been invited from Georgia to the enlargement conference planned for November, while states are represented for discussing enlargement. He responded that Lomjaria was a tool of hybrid attack and interference from Brussels in the 2024 elections, that she was funded from various European foundations and spread disinformation related to the elections. According to Papuashvili, Lomjaria, as Public Defender, also lied about Saakashvili's health.
Papuashvili also said that this confirms Brussels' immature policy. According to his statement, the EU has been excluded from serious international negotiations and demands to be involved in negotiations on the Russia-Ukraine war, although neither Russia nor America is interested in talking with its participation.
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaia Kallas told journalists ahead of the European Council summit that she does not think in-depth discussions on Georgia or Black Sea issues will take place at the summit, although these topics will come up in the security context. According to the list published by the European Commission, the Georgian government will not be represented at the EU enlargement forum.
