One Person Detained in Zestaponi Municipality on Charges of Robbing 12 Graves
Officers of the Zestaponi District Division of the Imereti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained one person. He is charged with disrespect toward the deceased and unlawful appropriation of an item located on a grave.
The investigation established that the suspect robbed 12 graves in Zestaponi Municipality. He stole metal parts from the fences of the graves and later handed them over to a metal receiving point located in the city of Zestaponi.
According to the ministry, as a result of operative measures and investigative actions, the person who committed the crime was detained as a suspect, and the stolen metal items were seized as material evidence.
The investigation is being conducted under Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for imprisonment for up to 2 years.
