President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili said in Mtskheta, in connection with the Svetitskhoveli feast, that it is especially important today to cherish spiritual foundations and to reflect on them deeply.

According to him, Svetitskhoveli is a day that once again reminds us who we are, where we come from, and what values our future should rest on.

Kavelashvili noted that the feast is especially symbolic this year, when Georgia marks the 1700th anniversary of Christianity being proclaimed the state religion. According to the president's assessment, this date once again makes us think that the country's history and its spiritual choice are inseparable.

According to the president's statement, today, when the modern world faces complex challenges, unity, peaceful coexistence and common efforts are needed so that Christian values are further strengthened in the state.

He called Mtskheta the "main spiritual capital" and named Svetitskhoveli Cathedral the main temple of the mother church, the supreme symbol of national identity, survival and eternity. According to Kavelashvili, it is in this temple that, along with other shrines, the Robe of the Savior rests.

The president congratulated citizens living in Georgia and compatriots living abroad on Svetitskhoveli, adding: "I want the Lord to protect our homeland".
