European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa congratulate the "Student List" on its victory in Serbia's parliamentary elections. They published the message on their social network.

"The people of Serbia turned out to vote in record numbers to determine the future of their country. We are ready to support reforms in the areas of the rule of law, media freedom, the fight against corruption and strong democratic institutions, and to work with the European Union for Serbia's forward progress," say von der Leyen and Costa.

EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos also congratulates the "Student List" on its victory.

"After almost two years of protests demanding democracy, the rule of law and the fight against corruption, the citizens of Serbia turned out to vote with historically high activity. Congratulations to the "Student List" on its victory! These are the values on which our European Union is founded. A new stage begins for Serbia. The door of the European Union is open and we are ready to move forward together," writes Kos.

Parliamentary elections in Serbia were held yesterday. The "Student List" defeated the Serbian Progressive Party of Aleksandar Vucic.
