Sybiha: Russia Will Not Be Ready for Serious Negotiations While It Believes It Can Achieve Its Goals

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that Russia will not agree to serious peace negotiations as long as it hopes to achieve its goals by putting pressure on Ukraine.
"As long as Russia believes that it will achieve its goals of invading Ukraine and will force it to capitulate through pressure - goals that it cannot achieve on the battlefield - it will not be ready for serious negotiations," Sybiha said.
According to him, maintaining and increasing pressure on Russia is critically important for ending the war.
"Peace obtained through force is the only effective strategy. However, this force must be directed against the aggressor and not against the country that is defending itself. This war cannot be ended by stopping Ukraine's resistance. It can only be ended by stopping the aggressor's attacks," Sybiha said.
The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry responded to a statement by Yuri Ushakov, aide to the Russian president. According to Ushakov, Moscow is ready to resume trilateral "trial" talks with Ukraine and the US after November 4.
