Sioni Cathedral Rehabilitation Works to Be Completed by Year's End

According to the Tbilisi City Hall, rehabilitation works at Sioni Cathedral will be completed at the end of the current year. The total cost of the project is 1,221,222 lari.

City Hall explains that the Tbilisi Development Fund began the restoration and rehabilitation project for the cathedral and its bell tower at the end of May. The project envisages replacing and restoring the damaged roof shingles of the cathedral and bell tower, located at Sioni N4 in Tbilisi.

The works became necessary as a preventive measure to prevent the walls from being damaged by precipitation and to avoid endangering the unique frescoes preserved in the cathedral.

A contract for carrying out the works was signed with LLC "Remonti 2" on the basis of an electronic tender. According to City Hall, the project is in an active phase and its completion is planned for the end of the year.
