Araghchi: Western Support for Ukraine Prolonged the War

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Western support for Ukraine has prolonged the war. He made the remark at a press conference following his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"European countries and the US are suffering because of wrong calculations and approaches, and by adopting a wrong political course they have become the main causes of many wars and crises. Western support has prolonged the war in Ukraine," Araghchi said.

According to him, European countries' leaders "must open their eyes" and assess the real situation.

At the press conference, Lavrov noted that he had provided his Iranian counterpart with information on recent developments around Ukraine.

"I shared information on the efforts being made in this direction to unconditionally fulfill the tasks of the special military operation, preferably through negotiations, although neither the Kiev regime nor its European patrons are ready for this," Lavrov said.

According to Lavrov, Russia does not attack civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.

"We have never attacked Ukraine's civilian infrastructure, except in cases where the targets were facilities that directly supplied the Ukrainian armed forces with relevant products, which were then used to carry out terrorist attacks against Russian citizens," Lavrov said.
