Education Ministry Does Not Confirm Plan to Dismantle Vekua School 42

The Georgian Ministry of Education does not confirm reports about dismantling Tbilisi Public School No. 42 named after Ilia Vekua. The ministry does not specify whether dismantling of the building is planned.
The ministry explains that it is not yet officially established whether, after the expert opinion, it will be necessary to remove students from the school. According to them, a meeting is likely to be held and the issue will be discussed.
According to a representative of the ministry, the school has known for a long time that the building needs repairs and that an expert examination is required to determine what work should be carried out. The expert opinion has probably only now reached the school. The school is also aware that an alternative building is being worked on.
"An alternative space has been found for them and is being repaired and prepared, although the discussion here concerns a temporary [building]. However, I cannot confirm the story. Probably a meeting will take place and they must discuss whether it is necessary and, if they relocate, these details are not yet [known]. For now I cannot confirm anything," the Education Ministry says.
The ministry notes that if the expert examination unequivocally determines that the building must be vacated, people will have to be moved out. According to them, in the case of School 21 the expert opinion was also known, but later the circumstances were clarified, a temporary reinforcement was carried out on the building, and classes continue in the same building.
