Ioseliani: We Were Refused Every Attempt to Meet Elene Khoshtaria

The Public Defender said that every time they tried to meet with Elene Khoshtaria or to inquire about her case, they were refused. Levan Ioseliani made this statement on the "360 Degrees" program of Palitranews.

Ioseliani noted that this is Khoshtaria's right and reflects her personal attitude toward the Ombudsman. According to him, he can do nothing in this regard and cannot force anyone to cooperate with him.

The Ombudsman says that if Elene Khoshtaria reconsiders her attitude and believes that the Public Defender's Office can contribute to improving her situation, he expresses full readiness to do so.

"I wish Elene Khoshtaria health and early release, this is my position, whatever attitude I may have toward this person, although since the first day of my election she has refused to cooperate with me as Public Defender, she refuses to cooperate with my office," Ioseliani said.

Regarding early release, the Ombudsman said he wishes this not only for Khoshtaria but for all convicts. He said he has long supported activating conditional early release and significantly increasing this number, which he also writes about in the report. In his words, this applies to all prisoners, including Khoshtaria.
