Akhmeta doctor Maia Koxtashvili has been deprived of her passive electoral right for 5 years. The passive electoral right gives a citizen the opportunity to be elected to an elected position.

The record of this plea agreement was first noticed by "Sakartvelos Ambebi". Prosecutor Manana Tandashvili does not answer journalist Gela Mtivlishvili's question on whether this means that Koxtashvili has been banned from running as a candidate in elections for 5 years.

Maia Koxtashvili's daughter Ana Imedashvili says that her mother never thought of entering politics. According to her: "I do not know in which elections mother should take part, when we no longer have elections. It seems they have still insured themselves and do not want people who would have had some chance to have the right to take part in elections."

Neurologist doctor Maia Koxtashvili was detained in Akhmeta on September 11. She was accused of repeatedly issuing a forged prescription for the purchase of a psychotropic or potent substance, or using her official position to do so. This article is punishable by a fine or imprisonment from 3 to 6 years, and may also result in the deprivation of the right to hold a position or engage in activity for up to one year.

Later, a plea agreement was concluded with Koxtashvili: she was fined 50,000 GEL and her driving license was restricted for 6 months. Her right to practice medicine has been retained.
