Man Detained for Embezzling GEL 102,300 From Sale of Gold Items

Employees of the Organized Crime Fraud Prevention Department and the Detectives Main Department of the Investigation Main Department of the Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained one person. He is charged with embezzlement of a large sum of money.

According to the investigation, the suspect obtained gold items from a citizen by deception. He convinced the victim that he would pay the corresponding amount within one month of selling the items. After the items were sold, the suspect stopped communicating with the victim and unlawfully appropriated GEL 102,300 received from the sale.

The person was detained on the basis of a court ruling. The investigation is being conducted under Part 3 of Article 180 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for imprisonment of up to 9 years.
