Cheishvili: Respondent Side Has an Acute Deficit of Legal Arguments

Parliamentary majority member Tornike Cheishvili commented on journalists on the Constitutional Court lawsuit concerning the ban of opposition parties. According to him, the process once again shows that the respondent side has an acute deficit of legal arguments.
According to Cheishvili, the respondents, through various populist statements from the court tribune, are trying to create a perception in society that they may have a real counterargument that would be suitable for refuting the accusations offered in the lawsuit. He states that this, of course, is not the case.
According to him, today's hearing differs from previous days in that the respondent side is trying more actively to make political statements from the Constitutional Court tribune, "which is unacceptable based on the standards of conducting the process".
"They received numerous remarks in this regard. On the other hand, we see that they also argue absolutely groundlessly on the same topics, and this also took place during the hearing. We heard an absolutely shameful statement that, for example, Nika Gvaramia allegedly distances himself most of all from the Georgian case related to Bidzina Ivanishvili, his unprecedented charity, which in turn amounts to 3.5 billion dollars, and at the same time, he allegedly does not distance himself in any way from the systemic crimes, those utterly immoral, cruel and sadistic acts that are related precisely to the period of the rule of the "United National Movement" government", Cheishvili says.
