Co-Chairs of UN, OSCE and EU Meet Bigvava in Sukhumi Ahead of 68th Geneva Round

The co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions, representatives of the UN, OSCE and European Union, arrived in Sukhumi. At the meeting with Odisseas Bigvava, acting de facto minister of foreign affairs of Abkhazia and deputy minister, they discussed the agenda of the 68th round of negotiations. The round will take place on November 10-11, 2026.
According to the de facto Abkhaz foreign ministry, the Abkhaz side once again emphasized the need to develop and sign a legally binding document on the non-use of force against Abkhazia by Georgia. According to the de facto ministry, signing this document remains one of the main goals of the negotiation format.
According to official information, the meeting also discussed humanitarian issues, including freedom of movement and other topics, which are to be continued within the framework of the Geneva discussions.
The Abkhaz side also informed the co-chairs about Elchin Adzinba, a representative of the Abkhaz diaspora living in Turkey and associate professor at Adnan Menderes University. According to the de facto foreign ministry, Adzinba stated that after speaking at a session of the UN Forum on Minority Issues in Geneva, he was subjected to pressure, threats and cyberattacks from Georgia. According to the ministry, at the forum Adzinba raised issues of Abkhazia's international isolation, restrictions on freedom of movement and the non-recognition of documents of citizens of the de facto republic.
According to the Abkhaz side, at the end of the meeting the parties emphasized the importance of maintaining the Geneva discussions to support security and stability in the region.
Before Sukhumi, the co-chairs were in Tbilisi. On October 26, they took part in a preparatory meeting for the 68th round at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to the foreign ministry, the co-chairs and members of their delegations attended the meeting, while the Georgian side was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and head of the Georgian delegation to the Geneva talks, Lasha Darsalia.
For the Georgian side, the priority was security, humanitarian and human rights challenges in the occupied regions and in territories adjacent to the occupation line. According to the ministry, the discussion also covered Russian actions, which the Georgian foreign ministry views as steps aimed at the illegal annexation of occupied territories.
