Ana Tsitlidze: Bringing Khoshtaria to This Condition Is Georgian Dream's Responsibility

Ana Tsitlidze, a representative of the United National Movement, told journalists that bringing the leader of Droa, Elene Khoshtaria, to this condition is directly the responsibility of Georgian Dream. According to her, this shows that there is nothing humane or human in "Georgian Dream".
Tsitlidze said: "When Georgian Dream talks about systemic crimes, it should look at what happened to Elene Khoshtaria. Why is Elene Khoshtaria in prison at all, what did she do? Because she wrote something with a marker on a banner? So for "Georgian Dream" a banner and a marker are more valuable than human health and human life. It turns out so, because Elene Khoshtaria has done nothing else. Elene Khoshtaria is not a criminal."
Khoshtaria was transferred from the Rustavi Women's Prison to the Todua Clinic in Tbilisi. The convicted politician was brought into the hospital in a wheelchair for a scheduled check-up. Due to the deterioration of her health, she was first transferred to the Vivamed clinic several months ago, from where she was returned to the Rustavi Women's Prison on September 27.
Khoshtaria was detained on September 15, 2025 in the case of damage to the election banner of Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze. She wrote the inscription "Russian Dream" on Kaladze's banner. The court imposed a bail of 5,000 GEL as a preventive measure, but she refused to pay the bail.
She was charged under the first part of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to damaging another person's property if this caused significant damage. Judge Giorgi Arevadze found Khoshtaria guilty and sentenced her to 1 year and 6 months in prison.
