Gvaramia at Constitutional Court: Under Plaintiff's Standard, Georgian Dream Itself Is the Party to Be Banned

Nika Gvaramia, representative of the "Coalition for Change," stated at the Constitutional Court, while the respondent's explanation was being delivered, that under the system of interpreting the norm proposed by the plaintiff, the party to be banned is Georgian Dream itself.

According to him, if the norm is perceived the way the representatives of "Georgian Dream" perceive it, "a violator of the pluralist order will automatically be read as a violator of the constitutional order and a usurper of power."

Gvaramia explained that the parties had spoken on five grounds the previous day. According to him, judging by the standard in the lawsuit, the main party, if not the only one, that is subject to a ban under constitutional criteria is "Georgian Dream."

According to his statement, a mirror reading of all five grounds, that is, applying the lawsuit's standard to them, shows that the lawsuit's interpretation describes "every ruling force that changes the constitutional course, punishes the opposition and violently suppresses protest" more accurately than it describes the opposition that demands elections, demands justice and demands freedom for illegally imprisoned people."
