Gorduladze: Parties Named in Lawsuit Tried to Change Government by Force Six Times in 2019-2025

Archil Gorduladze, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs, said at a briefing that the claims made at the Constitutional Court hearing by representatives of the Gvaramia party and "Coalition for Changes" are false. According to him, they want to draw public attention to only a few of these claims.
Gorduladze rejected the statement that the temporary investigative commission in Parliament was formed unlawfully. According to him, the commission was formed in full compliance with the Constitution of Georgia and legislation.
He also considered false the claim that the lawsuit does not substantiate the parties' commission of actions that could become grounds for their ban. According to Gorduladze, the lawsuit is based in detail on specific evidence and more than 100 sources, showing that the parties named in it have acted as a single organism for years, and their goal was to overthrow the state system, change it by force, undermine the country's independence and violate its territorial integrity.
According to Gorduladze, the plaintiff determined the list of parties subject to ban based on their unconstitutional actions, and not only on whether they have the potential to overcome the electoral threshold. In his explanation, this factor is an important criterion under the stable practice of the European Court of Human Rights for determining how real the threat posed by a party subject to ban is.
Gorduladze rejected the claim that no party poses an immediate threat. According to him, every party whose ban is requested poses an immediate threat to carry out unconstitutional actions. He stated that the "National Movement" was the creator of a systemic and systematic regime of torture of people until 2012, which is confirmed by numerous decisions of the European Court of Human Rights. According to Gordulaze, other parties not only do not distance themselves from this party, but are also in coalition with it.
Gorduladze also falsely claimed that the defendant parties demanded a peaceful change of government. According to him, the parties named in the lawsuit directly tried to change the government by violent means six times in 2019-2025, and they still do not distance themselves from these actions.
According to his statement, it is false that they seek a ban on pro-Western parties. Gorduladze said that the plaintiff seeks to ban parties that act against the Constitution of Georgia, created a systemic regime of torture in 2003-2012, do not distance themselves from this party and cooperate with it, and also trample on Georgia's sovereignty and the constitutional principle that the source of power is the people.
