The prosecutor in the case of journalist Dito Chubinidze, Ani Khubejashvili, told the media after the end of the court hearing that Chubinidze's actions are clearly repeated, spread in a way that damages state interests, and are directed against them. According to the prosecutor, the charges are not related to Chubinidze's journalistic activities or to any of his articles.

According to Khubejashvili, Domenti Chubinidze is charged with treason and sabotage with the aim of weakening the state. At today's hearing, the prosecution requested pre-trial detention as a preventive measure against him on the grounds that there is a risk of continued actions directed against state interests. The court shared this risk and ordered Chubinidze to be placed in pre-trial detention.

The prosecutor noted that the investigation is ongoing and will be carried out thoroughly and objectively. According to her, a number of pieces of evidence have been obtained in the case so far, including the public statements of the accused. Witnesses have been questioned, and persons connected with the case are being questioned.

According to Khubejashvili, the investigation is underway into the crime committed by Chubinidze. At this stage, he has the status of an accused and has the right to decide for himself what information to provide to the investigation.

According to the prosecutor, Chubinidze's actions are clearly separated from his journalistic activities. According to her, the prosecution has repeatedly listened to Chubinidze's public statements, which are also presented as evidence in the case and which, in the prosecutor's assessment, substantially damaged state interests.

"This is a number of purposeful statements made by him as a public figure, which were directed against state interests. His charges are not related to his journalistic activities," the prosecutor said.
