Man Detained in Rustavi on Fraud Charges for Selling Two Cars to Citizen and Then Transferring Them to Others

The Rustavi City Department of the Kvemo Kartli Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained one person on charges of repeatedly fraudulently appropriating a large sum of money. The detainee has previous convictions for the same crime.

According to the agency, the investigation established that the suspect sold two cars to a citizen and received the full amount of money. After the cars were registered in the name of the buyer, the suspect took them back for 10 days under an agreement of rental and distribution of the profit earned. He broke the agreement and transferred both cars to other persons.

As a result of the crime, the victim suffered material damage of 49,500 GEL. Law enforcement officers, as a result of operative measures and investigative actions, detained the perpetrator as a suspect.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 180 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for imprisonment for up to 9 years.
