Peskov: Russia and US must urgently resume dialogue on strategic stability

Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said Russia and the United States must urgently resume dialogue on strategic stability and nuclear disarmament issues.
Answering journalists' question on whether Russia considers it necessary for the issue of strategic stability to be placed on the agenda of a potential bilateral meeting between Russia and the US, Peskov said: "We are sure of this. We have talked about it many times. At various levels we have repeatedly stated and confirmed our position that it is necessary to renew dialogue on strategic stability and nuclear disarmament as quickly as possible. This is an extremely important topic".
According to Peskov, Moscow expects American negotiators to inform Russian President Vladimir Putin about their contacts with Ukrainians and Europeans. He was asked whether a meeting with Witkoff is on Putin's schedule after Witkoff meets Volodymyr Zelensky, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Finnish President Alexander Stubb in Norway.
Peskov said: "We hope that in the near future we will be able to organize a meeting and that American negotiators, Mr. Witkoff, will be able to inform President Putin of their contacts with both Ukrainians and Europeans".
