Rubio: Trump Wants 60-Day Pause on Russia Sanctions and Tariffs

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Donald Trump wants to suspend energy sanctions and tariffs against Russia for 60 days in order to analyze their impact on the global economy. Rubio made the remarks in an interview with the media.
According to Rubio, the issue was not limited to sanctions against Russia alone: "The problem is that these were not only sanctions against Russia. It includes tariffs against a number of countries - for example, India and others. And I think the president wants to take a 60-day pause to analyze what impact the imposition of sanctions and tariffs will have on the global economy and on the US economy as well. I think when the [Lindsey Graham] bill was adopted, one of the reasons why exemptions were included in it was the understanding that some time would be needed to study this, taking into account all the various things happening in the world, including the pressure on global energy supplies, which is happening not only because of Iran, not only because of the Strait of Hormuz, but increasingly because of the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, and the Russia-Ukraine war, where energy infrastructure is being bombed. So this also affects global prices".
Regarding the slowing of Starlink speeds for Ukraine, Rubio said that "nobody in the White House has ordered anyone to slow down the internet or its speed so that certain drones cannot use it".
