Bill to Block US-Russia Diesel Fuel Deal Introduced in US Congress

A bill aimed at blocking the diesel fuel agreement reached between the United States and Russia has been introduced in the US Congress. The information is published on the website of the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee.
The bipartisan bill was introduced by committee member, Democrat Gregory Meeks. He is co-sponsored by 17 other members of the House of Representatives.
The bill bars the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) from investing in the Russian energy sector. It also revokes general licenses issued by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury and prohibits the issuance of new licenses. In addition, the document requires President Donald Trump to impose sanctions against Russia's energy sector.
On October 9, Trump said he had reached an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the supply of Russian diesel fuel to American and world markets.
