Duane Davis Sentenced to Life Imprisonment with Possibility of Parole After 40 Years for Organizing Tupac Shakur's Murder

Rapper Tupac Shakur's murder: Duane "Keffe D" Davis has been sentenced to life imprisonment with possibility of parole after 40 years for organizing the killing. The sentence was announced by Judge Carli Kirni.
Davis was formerly a leader of the gang Southside Compton Crips. On August 31, he was found guilty of planning Shakur's murder in 1996 near the Strip in Las Vegas. He remains the only person charged in connection with Shakur's murder.
The case remained unsolved for almost 30 years. Prosecutors did not claim that Davis fired the shots himself. According to them, he was a high-ranking member of the gang and arranged the shooting as revenge after a fight broke out at the MGM Grand hotel between Shakur's associates and his nephew, Orlando Anderson. Later that same night, Shakur was shot while in a car. He died six days later.
At the start of the trial, the 63-year-old Davis waived his right to have the sentence determined by the jury. The jury found him guilty of the murder in less than three hours after going into deliberation.
