Herczynski: EU Foreign Ministers to Discuss Worsening Situation in Georgia on October 12

ჰერჩინსკი: ევროკავშირის საგარეო საქმეთა მინისტრები 12 ოქტომბერს საქართველოში ვითარების გაუარესებას განიხილავენ

According to EU Ambassador to Georgia Paweł Herczyński, EU foreign ministers will discuss the worsening situation in Georgia on October 12. The ambassador made the statement in an interview with the media.

According to Herczyński, ministers discuss the Georgian issue quite regularly, because the EU is clearly concerned about developments in the country. In his words, the concern relates to the deterioration of the human rights situation and the state of democracy.

In the ambassador's assessment, people in today's Georgia are going to prison for standing on the sidewalk and for posts on "Facebook". In his words, foundations of the EU and member states, which have always supported Georgia's sovereignty and development, are being persecuted in Georgia.

Herczyński assessed this situation as extremely problematic and said that for this reason ministers will discuss the worsening situation in Georgia once again next Monday.
