Lemonjava: Ban on Droa Is a Demonstrative Step by Kremlin Ahead of Constitutional Court Ruling

Giga Lemonjava, one of the leaders of the party Droa, responded to the decision of the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia, which declared Droa an "undesirable organization". In his assessment, this is a demonstrative step that is deliberately ahead of the ruling of the Constitutional Court of Georgia. According to Lemonjava, this highlights that the abolition of pro-Western parties in Georgia is an interest and order of the Kremlin.

Lemonjava writes on social media that the constitutional lawsuit of the "Ivanishvili regime" on banning parties was written by Russia's "FSB". According to him, the lawsuit not only implies the abolition of pro-Western parties, but also contains a statement on the destruction of Georgia's territorial integrity. Lemonjava maintains that, at the level of quotations, it repeats Russia's doctrine on "new realities", according to which Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region are independent states. He also said that the plenum of the Constitutional Court did not want to hear this, but "facts are screaming" and cannot be hushed up.

Lemonjava writes: "Every "deputy" of the "Georgian Dream" who signed the constitutional lawsuit is carrying out an order from Russia, while those judges who, in all likelihood, already have a decision ready to grant the lawsuit are signing Russia's plan".

According to Russian media, Russia declared the party Droa an "undesirable organization". According to a statement by the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia, the party's activities were declared "undesirable" due to its "Russophobic views".
