Beselia: If Prosecutor's Office Reacts to Oqitashvili's Appeal, It Means Scenario Was Agreed

According to Eka Beselia, founder of the "House of Justice" and head of the "Palace of Culture" Davit Oqitashvili's appeal should not be accidental. If it is followed by a statement from the prosecutor's office about starting an examination of the issue, Beselia believes it can be directly said that this is a pre-agreed scenario. She spoke about this on the "360 Degrees" program on Palitranius.

Beselia was responding to Oqitashvili's "Facebook post". In the post, Oqitashvili accuses former Minister of Culture Tinatin Rukhadze of damaging his personal reputation and calls on the prosecutor's office and the audit service to make public the costs of Patriarch Ilia II's funeral.

Beselia noted that the investigative agency could have started an investigation into the costs of the Patriarch's funeral even earlier, since there were doubts and public statements on this issue.

"In general, we already know the handwriting, how statements are made, especially at that time, in that situation, and by people who have certain close ties with the ruling team," she said.

According to Beselia, when information about the non-purpose use of budget funds emerged after the Patriarch's death a few days ago, she expected that it would be followed by further developments. In her words, this is not an ordinary topic that can simply be voiced and then end there.

Beselia added that if all of this is confirmed, it will probably be the most serious story ever. In her words, after information and questions have emerged, the issue cannot end like this and it will still need to be clarified.

According to her, any information made public that contains signs of a crime is grounds for starting an investigation. Therefore, even without Oqitashvili's appeal, since suspicions of non-purpose use of financial resources have already been publicly voiced, an investigation could have been launched.
