Japaridze Says He Was Detained at Turkish Border, Barred from Entering Country Since November 2025

Zurab Girchi Japaridze, one of the leaders of the "Coalition for Change", is circulating a statement on the circumstances of his detention at a Turkish airport. The politician writes on social media that he has been barred from entering Turkey since November 2025.
According to Japaridze, he has lost the opportunity to attend important meetings as a result.
"Today I was flying to Brussels, I was supposed to take part in a leaders' summit at the invitation of Renew Europe. In Turkey I had to change airlines. They detained me at the border.
As they explained, a "ban" has been placed on me entering Turkey since November 2025. They have some information about me received from official Georgian structures. They are taking me back to Tbilisi tomorrow morning.
Unfortunately, I have lost the opportunity to attend important meetings. Nothing else to worry about," Japaridze writes.
Information about his detention was first spread by Aldeme.
