Aleksandre Tamazashvili, son-in-law of Irakli Garibashvili, the former Prime Minister of Georgia who is in detention, says that Garibashvili is not being allowed to see his children. According to him, this is "additional punishment".

Tamazashvili writes on social media that the post does not concern politics or the legal "cobweb". According to him, Irakli Garibashvili may not be liked as a politician, for some he may be the biggest "criminal" in Georgia's history, while many may consider him a victim of political manipulation. Tamazashvili writes that there are many opinions and versions around Garibashvili, but he does not believe there is anyone who is happy that Garibashvili is being denied the chance to see his young children as an "additional" punishment.

Explaining Tamazashvili's statement, the official reason is that the allotted visit has run out: Garibashvili saw the children only twice in total, meaning he had two visits over 11 months. An additional visit, however, is a matter of goodwill and encouragement, which under the law depends on the decision of the prison warden.

"Show some humanity and let Irakli's children see him", says Tamazashvili.
