Sioridze on Electoral Code changes: "Georgian Dream" lacks resources to win elections

Giorgi Sioridze, one of the leaders of "Strong Georgia - Lelo", comments on the planned changes to electoral legislation. According to him, "Georgian Dream" always adopts such changes when it sees specific threats.
According to Sioridze, "Georgian Dream" knows well that it does not have the support among the population that would allow it to retain power and extend its stay in government.
"These changes also serve precisely this goal, which in this case means that the relevant subjects will no longer have the opportunity to appeal real violations that occur on election day", Sioridze said.
According to him, the grounds for appeal are limited to technical and mathematical errors, and appeals are centralized from the district commissions to the CEC at the level of the election administration. Sioridze says that if there is no technical basis in court either, complaints will not be considered at all.
The changes also concern the registration procedure for observers. According to Sioridze, this is also proof that "Georgian Dream" does not have the resources to win elections either through administrative resources and needs additional mechanisms.
Parliament is beginning to consider the planned changes to the "Electoral Code". The legal affairs and regional policy committees will consider the bill prepared by "Georgian Dream" deputies on November 6.
